The Priceless Gift of Christmas!

With thanks to Helen Steiner Rice

Now Christmas is a season for joy and merrymaking,

A time for gifts and presents, for giving and for taking,

A festive, friendly, happy time when everyone is gay -

But have we ever really felt the Greatness of the Day?

Just not too far from where we live is a house in Appelbaar Street - an ordinary house, in an ordinary suburb. South African homes are generally not decorated on the outside at Christmas time. But this house is transformed, every year, into a magical place - a mass of sparkling lights! A place where children are whisked away into a land of lights and laughter! A place that's bright and gleaming, bringing family and friends AND strangers together!  A place where we freely enjoy priceless gifts - bonding, laughing, talking, singing - being together!

Merry, Merry Christmas, one and all!

Some people really go out and make an effort. It must cost them a bundle, but its worth it if you can do it.

I like to see Christmas lights in neighborhoods unless they're over the top.
We watched a program on TLC the other night which showed light extravaganzas around the world....with some I think it was an obsession...

Thank you Helen Steiner Rice for this poem full of love and joy for the Holiday Season. I have recited this poem every Christmas Season since I was 9 years old. There is always an opportunity to share God's Gift of Christmas and I have through your words.

We're heading out on holiday on Saturday so I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have done forward posts for both my blogs so they will still come up on your feeds every day, I just won't be commenting as I'm not taking the laptop along.
