Wombles!

No furry little creatures here! NoWimbeldon common! But a wonderful Zimbabwean couple, a great atmosphere and the most delicious food - that's what Wombles in Parktown North has to offer! We went there for dinner on Friday night and what a fabulous experience. We'd heard about this place, and when a friend suggested we go there with our brother-in-law, Paul whose out from Australia, we decided it would be a good idea.

From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by our "food and beverage consultant" (no waiters here!) we knew it was going to awsome! As the designated driver, I didn't get to taste the Diemersfontein Pinotage, but my lime and soda was pretty good!  The food was amazing! I had the Duck Liver Pate which was served with a grape and berry sauce! It melted in my mouth! After that I had a fillet of beef on the bone, served with mashed potatoes, minted peas and honeyed butternut! YUM! My pavlova was to die for!  A ball of crispy, flaky merangue which, when gently cracked open, oozed out a symphony of berry, granadilla and cream mixture with chewy, merangue on the inside!  I don't know how the chef got it so right!  Rounded off with a good cup of coffee, we made the decision that we would definitely be back!

Oh yes .. we love it!! We have often gone there. Go there for your wedding anniversary and see how special they make you feel!!

We are going there for my hubby's retirement lunch on Thursday this week. (I will have to take one of my little 'pillikies' though - quite a tough thing to do when I'm not 100% but I must go)

Wombles is typical old Rhodesian hospitality at it's very best !!!

That sounds like a stunning place if I go by the food. Pity we don't have more places like that around here by us.

Ok - now I am seriously hungry. Some Woolies tomato soup will have to do.
