We're back!

Where did the time go? Slipped through our fingers, like the grains of snow white sand on the Mauritian beach! Paradise! That is the only way I can describe it. Although very poor, the people are so happy. Friendly. No worries, very little stress. The staff at Club Med were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and they do everthing in their power to keep the guests happy. From the minute we arrived and were greeted in the boiling heat with cold towels drenched in eu de cologne to the moment we left in the pouring rain at 5 in the morning, they were at our beck and call! As Philip says, they run a well oiled machine. Organized! You cannot believe it.

Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures on Thursday. I am going to try and get them downloaded tomorrow and will give it a go.

Despite all the passport drama (yes, Philip lost his passport while we were in Durban!) Found it just before we were to leave for the airport - another story for another day! I was so relieved once we sat our bums on those seats and got our first drink!

The flight to Maurtius was not bad. Four hours all in all. We were served a lovely lunch (We had fish salad) and lots of wine! Once we landed and that plane door opened, I could not believe the humidity. Shew! It makes Durban look like the Sahara Desert! We were met by the Club Med staff and taken to La Pointe Au Cannonier ( just outside Grand Baie). The bus trip took little more than an hour and I was told that the traffic had been kind to us! We were greeted by staff and given time to freshen up before going through to the dining room for dinner. I asked for a glass of dry white wine, and was given a bottle!! That's how it started and never ended! The theme that night was Italian and boy was the food great! I had cappacio drizzled with pesto sauce and I have to say its one of the best I have tasted.

After dinner Philip and I went down to the beach. Although it was close to 9 by then, the sea was as warm as could be. It was quite and still with just tiny little waves lapping up against the shore-line. We could hear a HUGE choir of frogs coming from the fountain higher up - it was so peaceful and special. A couple that we met on the plane joined us and we had some cocktails together chatting and learning more about each other. Nice evening. We were happy to put our heads on those pillows though I can tell you. And what comfortable, warm, white beds we had!

Breakfast starts at 7, but we managed to drag ourselves out of bed by 9 - found the treat to sleep in a little too tempting! After breakfast we decided to catch a taxi to Grand Baie to buy some air time and to do a little looking around .... more about that tomorrow!
