I believe he is the last of the great male icons - he was a true entertainer. Why, who doesn't remember "Thriller" - I think we played our video over and over so many times, eventually we had to throw it out. (I know what my next purchase from the music shop will be). Another of my absolute favourites was "Ben" originally written for Donny Osmond, but recorded by Michael Jackson at the tender age of 14. They played it on the radio this morning and it really brought a tear to my eye. Despite the song being about a rat, the words are touching and have moved a lot of people.

Besides Michael leading a strange and controversial life, I believe he was a sad and lonely man, and while I don't agree with his lifestyle, there is no doubt that he had an exceptional talent and will be missed.
I do hope he has found what he was looking for, and would like to pay tribute to a man who was a son, a brother and a father. My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.

As far as the cd shop goes. I just got the last copy of the "Number Ones" at Phase 2 . All the classics ARE SOLD OUT ALREADY !!!!!! Good luck !

Micheal Jackson touched my life as well...I have been on this earth and watched two icons die now, first Elvis when I was in high school, I remember that day so clearly, was on the train to school when I saw a newspaper advertising board saying * THE KING IS DEAD * that got my interest, so started looking at the people's newspapers around me and saw it was Elvis, he was famous in my parents time, but as a child I grew up to his music as my kids grew up to all Micheals hits.
There are no big icons left...he will continue living through his music..was far too young to die!!
