Stonehaven on Vaal!

We were greeted at Stonehaven-on-Vaal by a ginger cat sitting in an old basket of knitting. How positively quaint!
We spent the day with Rob and his girls to celebrate Erin’s 11th birthday. We had a really good time. The weather was hot and although we used Sun Block, we got rather burnt. Had a lovely lunch under the shade cloth washed down with a well chilled Sauvignon Blanc. I was given a new name! The table was booked under “Janice Brabb”! It was a delightful setting though! They have hundreds of colorful flowers filling all the beds and such quaint gates and swings, a dear little “Play, play restaurant” (Erin FILLED the door) as well as the prettiest farm yard with ducks, and chickens and a HUGE big turkey! “Will you be quiet!” were Sinead’s words, all of 5, as she walked past. After lunch, we took a cruise along the Vaal River and marveled at the beautiful homes – Wilbur Smith owns a home there – it is stunning!

As Philip says, "It's hell in Africa!"
