I am so thankful ...

... that my daughter is nearly grown up and that I do not have to worry about care-givers or after care facilities. One reads about so many cases where children are abused and not looked after properly. I was listening to the news on Highveld this morning. They have reported that a mother has described how her baby, suffering from Cerebral Palsy, has been abused by a care-giver, who she employed through an agency! The claims are that this women fed the child newspaper, hit him and swore at him. Her domestic worker reported the incidents to her. The mother said she had noticed how her son was becoming increasingly ill and bad tempered. The agency, called "Edubabe" said that a full background check was done on the employee. She also said that it is imperative that people report incidents like this otherwise they do not have proper records. The case is under investigation, but only God knows what damage has been done to this little man.

It's so sad and working mother's today have no choice but to leave their children in the care of others. Somehow the old days WERE better, when families could survive on one salary and mothers were at home with their children.

Is this not one of the reasons why we have a generation of delinquents on our hands? Maybe I am being over dramatic and I am generalising, but honestly, I think it must have something to do with it. Our children are left to their own devices as working parents don't always have resources to spend quality time with their kids. I think its very sad.

Michael Levine once said, "Having children makes you no more a parent than having a piano makes you a pianist."
