Love is in the air!

P’s secretary got engaged on Saturday night! What a lovely story she told. I have to share it with you!

R has been working for P for a good few years. Her boyfriend lives in Bloemfontein and is working towards being accepted at the bar and becoming an advocate. She was going to join us for dinner on Saturday and called to say she couldn’t come because her boyfriend had arrived unexpectedly and was taking her away for the week-end. And this is how it went …

… after surprising her by arriving late on Friday night, R’s boyfriend got up early the next morning. He put her into his car and blindfolded her. They proceeded to drive around for about an hour. Once they arrived at their destination, he left her in the car, while he went to book in and only took off her blindfold once they had got their sleeping quarters.

They unpacked their bags,(it was around lunch time), and he told her that they were going for a walk. Up hills and down dales and they eventually came to an opening surrounded by natural indigenous bush – she thought she was in the Game Reserve! And then they came, slowly, clumsily and swinging their huge trunks! He had taken her to the elephant sanctuary – something they had been wanting to do for a long time!  A special outing, for two special people.

They listened to the history of the elephants and talked to their trainers. They got to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-trunk and even ride these huge creatures!

They were on the last elephant when suddenly, her boyfriend slipped down. She heard the handler say “TAKE” and the next thing she had this trunk over her shoulder with a little red box in it! She was completely overwhelmed, and looked down to see her boyfriend kneeling – he proposed and she accepted!

Now isn’t that a lovely story?
