It's Monday ...

... and I have something to look forward to!

P has just booked us into Ngwenya Lodge for a whole week! One whole week out of Johannesburg, one whole week where there is NO traffic, one whole week where we can relax and enjoy nature without ANY interruptions! The lodge is situated on the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park, right on the banks of the Crocodile River. I have been told that we could see the Big Five without even LEAVING the lodge - how stunning is that? And it's close enough to go into the park any time - if I remember our passports, we could even spend a day in Mozambique if we wanted to!

I close my eyes and can imagine sitting on the patio of our lodge overlooking the river, with nothing but the sound of the birds and beetles and gentle slurping of a big elephant as he drinks water from the running water, with G & T in hand .... Roll on 23 November - I don't think I can wait that long!

Sounds and looks like a lovely place. Just a question though, what is the big five?

And, you know how time flies, Nov will be here in no time.

The "Big Five" was a phrase used only by hunters in the old days and refers to five of Africa's greatest wild animals - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino! I have been born and bred in South Africa and I have ONLY ever seen four of the Big Five - I have NEVER seen a leopard in the wild! Maybe this time?

*sniff* Can I go too? I am so jealous, but I hope you have a great time when you get there. I have never been to Kruger and would love to spend a week or so there as soon as I get the opportunity.
