Weekus Horribilus!

It's been a horrible week - there is just no other way to describe it!  I have had massive issues at work with one of our systems, which has just made my life absolutely miserable (and a lot of my colleagues too!), the weather has really turned and it's quite chilly outside, I feel exhausted and ready for a holiday actually!  In fact, one of my seniors asked me that question yesterday, "When last did you take leave?"  I was NOT impressed and told him that I don't need leave, I need a system THAT WORKS! Ha!  I must say that today has been a vast improvement, although I cannot believe that it's not lunch time yet!  Surpising how one has to throw one's toys to get some action?  On top of that, the taxi's in Johannesburg are on strike.  But typical - they're creating turmoil in our city.  The strike is spiralling out of control, and police have been forced to fire rubber bullets in order to disperse the crowds.  I think it's shocking!  We wanted freedom, freedom of speech and a proper democracy, but what kind of freedom do we have, when our local people are unable to choose their own method of transport ?? I just don't believe thats freedom!  The taxi drivers took to the streets to protest against the new Bus Rapid Transit system, which, according to them, will lead to loss of business and jobs..Surely the commuters should be allowed to make their choice?  I've had to let two of my staff members leave early so that they can get home safely before the rush hour this afternoon.  I think its VERY sad!
Blocking the highway near Killarney
It's chaos out there - honestly makes me very sad!

It makes me so mad. These Taxi drivers thinks the transport in SA revolves around them. They get away with "murder".

Sorry you're week has been so fraught and transport/computer issues just add to the stress. When our tube trains drivers go on strike (which is normally during the rush hour!!)its absolutely hectic on the roads and via any other transport which gets stretched to the limits alongside peoples tempers :( Hope everything sorts itself out. Maddening!! It affects us all too - Elaine had to leave work at lunch time (she works in town and these people walked in between their buildings - wished she'd taken her camera to get photos from her window) - and I had to collect Connor so that Beauty to get home safely.
Hope the rest of your week is better!

I'm sorry for your awful week so far. I hope it starts looking up for you.

Thank you so much for all your really wonderful comments on my blog. They make my day. I only wish I could comment on ALL your posts as well. Work, my sugar, hubby and such just don't give me the time. I do read though.

We've had the taxi thing here as well and had all those protests and stuff. The municipality and the taxi bosses have now agreed on some kind of deal. But I just can't believe that the government and the police don't have the guts to put their combined feet down to squash this.

I am also having a horrible week at work. I cam into work with all the good intentions in the world yesterday to be happy and when my boss became involved things just turned south. He has issues with me and will take any opportunity possible to put me down, specially if he can do it in front of other people. Some days I can feel that I am so close to cracking its not funny. I need a hug.

Yup, this is just how I am feeling at the moment. I also have not been on holiday for a while and things seem to get to me faster than usual. eg. I am up to my eyeballs in work and a staff member couldn't come to work yesterday because of the "transport"!!
