There is very little more elegant and special than old jewellery. I don't have many old pieces, but the few I have are really very special.
Not long after P and I had been together, he wanted to buy me a Christmas present. We were doing some shopping and came across a tiny jewellery store in Pretoria. We were looking in the window admiring some of the old pieces on display when I came across a Cameo set in silver. I loved it and remarked on how beautiful she was. How exciting to open my teeny, tiny Christmas gift to find it nestled in soft velvet - what a special gift!
Some years later, on a visit to Austria, we spent a day at Schonbrun Palace. What an amazingly, beautiful place it is. The gardens are so colourful and so neatly kept. The Habsburg Royal family lived here. The furnitue is so ornate. One of my favourite parts, was visiting the maze! There is a lovely little shop where they sell all kinds of souveniers. Not only did we buy some Sache Torte ( a decadent chocolate cake) but I saw the prettiest petit point brooch.. I held it and looked at it for a long time - it looked so dainty and old. We left ... without buying it. A little while later, P said, "go back and buy that brooch, you'll regret it forever if you don't" - so I did! Isn't it beautiful?
I have two other special pieces, but their stories are long ... I'll save them for another day!

I got a cameo for Christmas, it is a mother holding her baby. I love it!

Wow, Janet! Both pieces are just beautiful. And Philip was right, you definitely would've regretted not getting the petit pointe. It's gorgeous!
